Our Story

OCC Hat Co. was born from a deep love of vintage style, western heritage, and the belief that the right hat can change everything. We're a boutique hat shop dedicated to crafting and curating hats that carry character — the kind you can feel the moment you put one on.

OCC Hat Co. is proudly woman-owned and founded by designer Mattie Van Deusen. After sitting vacant for years, the historic 1905 building had become a forgotten Old Colorado City eyesore. Mattie and her partner, Rod, saw the beauty beneath the neglect and lovingly brought it back to life—preserving its original character while filling it with Western soul and maintaining as many historic features as possible. Today, the once-abandoned building is a destination where old walls hold new stories—and every custom hat tells one of its own.

What Makes Our Hats Different

Every hat in our collection is thoughtfully sourced and finished with materials that honor both tradition and craftsmanship. From rich Australian wool felt to supple vegan suede, we seek out fabrics that age beautifully and wear even better. Our silhouettes draw from the golden eras of western fashion — shaped with a modern sensibility that makes them feel at home whether you're on the ranch or rolling through the city.
